WaterCop Installation Notes
WaterCop Systems can be easily installed in existing or new construction.
The WaterCop electric valve should be installed just after the existing shut-off valve on your main water line. However, if your existing shut-off valve is outside of the house or building, the WaterCop should be installed on the main water line immediately after it enters the dwelling through a floor or wall. Very large homes have the option of 'zoning' their water supply by installing multiple WaterCop systems on branches of the main.
DynaQuip Controls, the makers of WaterCop, recommend that the WaterCop valve be installed by a certified professional plumber and in accordance with all local plumbing codes. Please read the Owner's Manual and Installation Instructions carefully prior to installing, testing, and operating your WaterCop system.
We have estimated that the valve location and installation process should take approximately one hour to complete. This estimate may vary by as much as 30 minutes depending upon the individual circumstances and home design of each installation. In some cases it may be necessary to have an electrical outlet installed near the location of the WaterCop installation.

WaterCop Sensor Placement
You learned earlier in the Product Overview section where are the ideal locations to place your flood sensors. (Where do I place the sensors?) Near or under washing machines, hot water heaters, dishwashers, toilets, ice makers, etc. When placing the sensors in the areas that you would like to monitor, make sure that the sensor probe is placed flat on the floor in an area where leaking water will accumulate at the earliest stages of the leak.

Wiring WaterCop to a Security System
Would you like to be notified of a leak situation? How about the ability to turn your water on or off with the push of a conveniently located switch? The WaterCop valve is capable of communicating with other devices such as security/home automation systems and our Water Control Wall Switch. The I/O port on the WaterCop has low voltage contacts that allow you to wire directly to home security systems and home automation control panels.

If you have a home security or home automation system with auxiliary inputs and outputs and would like to link WaterCop to that system, we suggest that you call your security system dealer/installer and have them do the work. If you use our Water Control Wall Switch and cabling, there is no wiring necessary!
